Honor has announced that it will launch its foldable device, the Honor Magic V2, globally at IFA 2023 Berlin on September 1st.

This announcement comes just a few weeks after Samsung released its latest line of foldable devices. Honor has teased the launch with the slogan, “UNFOLD TOMORROW.”

The company said the theme of the event will be a mixture of technology, Fashion, and Sustainability. The company has already started sending invites for the upcoming launch event at IFA 2023.

Honor Magic V2 Global Release

The Chinese smartphone maker said that it will launch the Magic V2 Foldable in select countries outside of China.

The Honor Magic V2 was unveiled in July 2023 in China and the foldable phone is advertised to be the world’s slimmest & lightest book-style phone at just 9.9mm when it is folded & weighs 231 grams. Now if we compare it with Samsung’s Z Fold5 is 12.1 thick when it is folded & weighs 253 grams.


Well, not only Magic V2 is light & thin but also possesses high-end specifications so let’s take a look at them as well.

The Honor Magic 2 features a 6.43-inch LPTO OLED cover display with 1060 x 2376 resolution & a 7.92-inch LTPO OLED main display with 2156 x 2344 resolution & 120hz refresh rate. Supports HDR10+ & has a peak brightness of 1600nits.

The foldable phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor coupled with 16GB RAM & up to 1TB of storage.

Runs on MagicOS 2.1 based on Android 13 and the Global variant of Magic v2 is expected to run Google applications as well since Honor isn’t sanctioned by the US government. The device comes in four colorways, Black, Gold, Silk Black, and Silk Purple.

The Honor Magic V2 has an impressive camera system with three lenses on the back. The main sensor is 50MP and has OIS and an f/1.9 aperture, while the ultra-wide lens also has autofocus and an f/2.0 aperture.

The telephoto lens has a 20MP capacity, 2.5x zoom, and an f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, there’s a 16MP front camera that supports HDR and has an f/2.2 aperture.

The foldable phone has a 5,000mAh battery with 66W fast wired charging and it also supports wireless charging. Other features include – NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, 4G LTE, an Infrared sensor, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

As from the teasers, it seems that the company will launch another foldable phone alongside the Magic V2 Global variant. It is speculated that it will be a Flip phone against Samsung’s Z5 Flip. One thing to note here is that this will be the first flip by Honor.
